Dr. R. Vinoth Kumar is the Chief and Senior Consultant in Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy, Gastroenterology and Hepatology at GEM Hospital, Chennai. With more than 14 years of clinical experience in gastroenterology, he specialises in interventional endoscopy and advanced endoscopic procedures. He has performed over 4,000 endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) procedures and has expertise in endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided therapeutic interventions, peroral endoscopic myotomy (POEM) for achalasia cardia and third-space endoscopy.
His clinical expertise includes EUS-guided gastrojejunostomy, hepaticogastrostomy, antegrade stenting and gallbladder drainage, as well as enteral and oesophageal stenting, cholangioscopy and endoscopic management of pancreatic diseases. He completed his DM in Medical Gastroenterology at Kilpauk Medical College, Chennai and pursued advanced endoscopy training in India and internationally, including EUS training in Copenhagen, Denmark and POEM and third-space endoscopy training in Chengdu, China.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Vinoth Kumar is actively involved in academic teaching, professional education and training aspiring gastroenterologists. He has contributed to medical research and publications covering gastrointestinal disorders, therapeutic endoscopy, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Helicobacter pylori infection and hepatobiliary conditions.
